Alafaya Trail Bridge, Seminole County, Florida, Florida Department of Transportation (District 5): Work was performed as a subconsultant to subsurface exploration and evaluation for bridge replacement of SR 434 over the Little Econolockhatchee River, including pile foundation exploration and evaluation, corrosion potential testing, reinforced earth retaining wall exploration and evaluation, and a soil survey for improved bridge roadway approaches.
Barcellona Road, Pasco County, Florida: Exploration and evaluation for 800-feet of unpaved roadway, which was to be paved to provide entrance to new Laurel Homes Subdivision. The design had to meet Pasco County roadway requirements with regard to structural numbers and minimum width. Selected design utilized existing limerock base and minimized demolition necessary, therefore minimizing costs.
Eichenfeld Drive, Brandon, Florida: Geotechnical exploration and evaluation for 1800-feet of proposed industrial park loop road.
Interstate 4 / SR 535 High Mast Light Poles, Kissimmee, Florida, Florida Department of Transportation (District 5): Subsurface exploration and evaluation for 16, 100-foot tall interchange lighting structures.
John Young Parkway, Orlando, Florida, Orange County: Subsurface exploration and evaluation for approximately 4.5 miles of new roadway, including twin bridges over the Florida Turnpike and a resolution to a 2500-linear-foot organic soil (peat/muck) deposit encounter.
Port Everglades Anchored Bulkhead, Fort Lauderdale, Florida: Geotechnical exploration, testing, analyses, and evaluation of 1000-feet of steel sheet pile anchored steel sheet/king pile bulkhead wall under construction. Included extensive testing and evaluation of a detected "soft" zone adjacent to the anchor wall. Lateral load modeling of the wall and settlement modeling of the between wall fill indicated stable future performance of the wall and loading/unloading dockside area.
Port Everglades Breasting Dolphins, Fort Lauderdale, Florida: Geotechnical analysis and evaluation for eight turning notch breasting dolphins for bulk cargo ships. Included extensive lateral impact loading analyses of proposed 6- and 7-foot diameter steel monopolies.
Port Everglades Finger Pier, Fort Lauderdale, Florida: Geotechnical analyses and evaluation for a 500-foot finger pier for bulk cargo ships. Project included extensive lateral impact loading analyses of proposed 6-foot diameter drilled shaft groups comprising 5 integral mooring dolphins in the pier.
Port Everglades Finger Pier Construction, Fort Lauderdale, Florida: Consulting and recommendations during construction of 500-foot finger pier which included adjusting tip elevations and locations of 6-foot diameter drilled shaft groups. Pile "sock" devised to compromise contractors concern of possible extreme overpours. Performed shaft by shaft evaluation prior to pours. Performed on-site inspections of installation procedures.
SR 45 (US 41), Brooksville, Florida, Florida Department of Transportation (District 7): Geotechnical exploration and evaluation for approximately 3.5 miles of roadway widening.
US 17-92, Orlando, Florida, Florida Department of Transportation (District 5): Subsurface exploration and evaluation for approximately 3.5 miles of roadway widening and intersection improvement including coring and evaluation of existing pavement.
Comfort Inn at Sun City Center, Hillsborough County, Florida: Managed materials testing inspection for two story hotel structure, utility installation and pavement.
Food Lion Off-Site Sanitary Sewer, Plant City, Florida: Managed density testing for utility trench backfill.
International Paper, Liquid Packaging Plant, Plant City, Florida: Managed construction materials testing and inspection for 100,000 ft2 tilt-wall packaging plant for International Paper.
Lakepoint IV - Lee Vista Center, Orlando, Florida, Trammel Crow Development Corporation: Managed construction phase testing and engineering (soil, concrete and asphalt) for this single-story office complex.
Marriott World Center, Exhibit Hall, Lake Buena Vista, Florida: Managed construction materials testing and Threshold Building Inspection for 100,000 square foot multi-story addition. Included soil, concrete, and steel testing and inspection for Marriott Corporation.
Meadowbrook, Unit 4B, Hillsborough County, Florida: Managed materials testing and inspection for single family home subdivision in accordance with Hillsborough County regulations.
Northpoint Office Park, Lake Mary, Florida: Shell Oil Company: Project included management of materials testing and engineering during infrastructure construction (soil and concrete) for this 55-acre office park.
Northwest Plaza, Orlando Central Park, Orlando, Florida: Northwestern Mutual Insurance Company: Managed construction materials testing on three tilt-up warehouses (soil, concrete and roofing inspection).
Orange County Civic Center Expansion, Orlando, Florida: Orange County: Managed construction materials testing and inspection for multi-story expansion which included soil, concrete and steel testing.
Post Lake and Post Fountains, Orlando, Florida, Post Development: Managed construction materials testing and engineering for 2 to 3 story apartment complexes including soil, concrete, soil-cement and asphalt.
Sun City Center, Unit 150, Hillsborough County, Florida, Frandorson Properties: Managed materials testing and inspection for single family home subdivision in accordance with Hillsborough County regulations.
The Villas at Andalucia, Apollo Beach, Florida: Managed construction materials testing for a new sewer main and manhole installation.
AAA Headquarters, Lake Mary, Florida, Oliver T. Carr Company: Project included geotechnical exploration and evaluation of 5-story office building to be placed on shallow foundations after deep dynamic compaction and compaction grouting treatment of a general loose zone flanking sinkhole depressions.
Andalucia Marina, Apollo Beach, Florida: Sediment analyses for a proposed 800-foot marina pier to address concerns of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers regarding tidal and wave energy changes due to the marina installation.
Caloosa Greens Golf Course, Sun City Center, Florida: Geotechnical and hydrogeologic exploration and evaluation for proposed 18-acre golf course. Exploration included performance of several deep auger borings for a proposed drainage pond. Laboratory testing included grain size determinations, permeability determinations, and Atterberg limits.
Chevron Asphalt Terminal, Port Everglades, Florida: Geotechnical exploration and evaluation for bulk liquid asphalt storage facility. Planned facility included one 100-foot diameter, 50-foot high bulk storage tank and one 50-foot diameter, 50-foot high bulk storage tank. Shallow footing alternative provided for founding of the tanks. Evaluation included extensive settlement analyses.
Comfort Inn at Sun City Center, Sun City Center, Florida: Two-story hotel complex for Comfort Inns. Geotechnical exploration and engineering evaluation and construction phase testing and inspection for C.M.U. structures.
Cypress Landings, Sun City Center, Florida: Geotechnical exploration and evaluation for a 39 lot subdivision. Evaluation included extensive hydrogeologic modeling.
Cypress Springs, Orange County, Florida: Project included extensive hydrogeologic modeling and analyses for cypress domes interspersed within pine/palmetto flatlands terrain. Also, traditional geotechnical exploration and evaluation for infrastructure roads and stormwater facilities for this 1,000-acre residential development of Gulfstream Land and Development and Gulfstream Communities.
Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Operation Center Expansion, Hillsborough County, Florida: Two-story operation center expansion for Hillsborough County. Geotechnical exploration and engineering evaluation.
Lakepoint IV, Lee Vista Center, Orlando, Florida, Trammell Crow Development Corporation: Project included geotechnical exploration and engineering evaluation, and construction phase testing and engineering of this single story office complex.
Lakewood Crest Subdivision, Tampa, Florida, John Twomey Associates: Project included geotechnical, hydrogeologic and construction testing and inspection for this single-family subdivision and adjoining development in this 80-acre development.
Limerick Nuclear Power Station, Wastewater Tank, Limerick, Pennsylvania: Geotechnical exploration and evaluation-foundation design for 50,000 gallon wastewater tank at facility.
Meadowbrook, Unit 4B, Tampa, Florida, Lennar Development: Project included geotechnical, hydrogeologic, and construction testing and inspection for this single-family subdivision and adjoining development on a 250-acre site.
Northpoint Office Park, Lake Mary, Florida, Shell Oil Company: This project included geotechnical exploration, sinkhole risk exploration, engineering evaluation, and materials testing during infrastructure construction for this 55-acre office park.
Post Lake and Post Fountains, Orlando, Florida, Post Development: Geotechnical exploration and evaluation, and construction materials testing for 2- and 3-story apartment complexes.
Sun City Center, Unit 50, Sun City Center, Florida: Geotechnical and hydrogeologic exploration and evaluation for a 100-acre subdivision in the Sun City Center development.
Bent Oaks, Deland, Florida: Evaluated an existing sinkhole area to be used in a closed stormwater basin situation for a proposed 55-acre residential development. Sinkhole hydraulic characteristics were evaluated to determine seepage quantities into the sink which would provide stormwater volume recovery.
Caloosa Golf Course, Sun City Center, Florida: Seepage analysis for proposed swale system to facilitate golf course drainage. Analysis included 3-point-seepage-modeling and 3-dimensional groundwater modeling for an 18-acre golf course.
Conserv II, Orlando, Florida: Wastewater disposal utilizing storage in natural depressions with subsequent reuse for citrus irrigation. The hydrogeologic investigation included a 100 square mile area.
Cross Creek Subdivision, Deland, Florida: Stormwater pond recovery analysis performed for closed basin single family home development. Due to the absence of outfall, analyses were vital to the pond design.
Cypress Landings, Sun City Center, Florida, Sun City Center Corporation: Seepage analysis and radii of influence evaluation for planned stormwater pond adjacent to existing wetlands. Work performed for Sun City Center Corporation in response to Southwest Florida Water Management District’s questions regarding impact of ponds on wetland. Analysis included three dimensional groundwater modeling.
Cypress Springs, Orange County, Florida: Project included extensive hydrogeologic modeling and analyses for cypress domes interspersed within pine/palmetto flatlands terrain. Also, traditional geotechnical exploration and evaluation for infrastructure roads and stormwater facilities on this 1,000-acre residential development of Gulfstream Land and Development and Gulfstream Communities.
Electric Machinery Enterprises, Tampa, Florida: Subsurface exploration and groundwater regime evaluation to support RCRA permit application. Work included installation and monitoring of piezometers and performance of deep Standard Penetration Test borings. Laboratory testing included grain size determinations and falling head permeability tests.
Essex Place, Tampa, Florida, Lincoln Properties: Project consisted of evaluation including seepage quantities and radius of influence for a stormwater pond controlled below the wet season water level. This work was prompted by Southwest Water Management District inquiries on a permit application and the results of our analyses satisfied their requirements and the permit was granted for this multi-family residential development.
General Components, Inc., Largo, Florida: Subsurface exploration and groundwater regime evaluation to support RCRA permit application. Work included installation and monitoring of piezometers and performance of 100-foot deep Standard Penetration Test borings. Laboratory testing included Atterberg Limits, grain size determinations, back pressure permeability tests on undisturbed samples, unit weights, void ratio determinations, and porosity determinations.
Kings Point, Sun City Center, Florida: Provided hydrogeologic modeling for a proposed stormwater management system on 700-acres. Details involved consideration of an existing spray field system which was to be removed from service when development begins. This spray field required a "reverse mounding" analysis to adjust groundwater levels to ambient wet season water levels used in design. Additionally, individual stormwater pond locations were evaluated for their potential to draw down the ambient wet season groundwater level, and to determine the radius of influence this draw down would occur over.
Liquid Air, Orlando, Florida: Groundwater modeling to support the design of a proposed spray field for industrial wastewater disposal. The spray field supported a "zero discharge" requirement for cooling tower blowdown water, and was the selected DER (FDEP) alternative over pond disposal due to adjacent "Waters of the State".
Meadowbrook, Hillsborough County, Florida: Performed hydrogeologic exploration and evaluation to address Southwest Florida Water Management District’s concerns of proposed stormwater management area on existing wetlands. Provided recommendations to protect the wetlands and permit the desired borrow lake proposed for the project. Three-dimensional groundwater modeling was implemented to substantiate the recommendations.
Northpoint Office Park, Lake Mary, Florida, Shell Oil Company: Evaluations included statistical analyses on surficial and deep aquifer level fluctuations. The results aided the design of a central stormwater lake which required a constant water level for aesthetic reasons for this 55-acre office park.
Oldsmar Effluent Reuse, Oldsmar, Florida: Hydrogeologic exploration and literature review to support permitting of effluent reuse. Work included well inventory, karst feature evaluation and hydrogeologic head evaluation.
SR 45 (US 41), Hernando County, Florida, Florida Department of Transportation (District 7): Performed a piezometer program along 3.5 miles of proposed widened right-of-way, and within stormwater management areas, to define complex perched water table conditions. It was found that groundwater perched temporarily on shallow clayey strata after periods of heavy rainfall.
Vistana Resort, Orlando, Florida: Evaluated effluent disposal capability for this proposed 25-acre multi-story hotel development. Spray irrigation, effluent ponds and exfiltration trench alternatives were examined to dispose of approximately 200,000-gallons-per-day of domestic wastewater effluent. Extensive groundwater modeling was performed to evaluate the site's capacity for disposing of the effluent.
Walden Lakes Apartments, Plant City, Florida, Lincoln Properties: Seepage analysis and radii of influence evaluation for planned stormwater pond adjacent to existing wetlands. The work was performed for Lincoln Properties in response to Southwest Florida Water Management District’s questions regarding impact of pond on wetland. Analysis included three dimensional groundwater modeling.
Wyndham Lakes, Hillsborough County, Florida: Provided stormwater pond analyses to determine the effect of drawing the wet season groundwater table down. Supplied wet season groundwater levels and radius of influence for controlled pond water levels below the wet season. Additionally, performed design of wastewater disposal ponds via groundwater modeling.
Hawter Residence, Crystal River, Florida: Investigation, laboratory testing and engineering report. Cause of residence settlement was determined to be soil piping through deficient seawalls.
Hope Residence, Crystal River, Florida: Investigation, laboratory testing and engineering report. Cause of residence settlement was determined to be buried debris.
Kolasa Residence, Brooksville, Florida: Investigation, laboratory testing and engineering report. Cause of residence settlement was determined to be shrink-swell of clayey soils.
Lane Residence, Brooksville, Florida: Investigation, laboratory testing and engineering report. Cause of residence settlement was determined to be shrink-swell of clayey soils.
Melton Avenue Two-story Apartment Complex, Tampa, Florida: Investigation, laboratory testing and engineering report. Cause of building settlement was determined to be buried debris.
Tiker Residence, Crystal River, Florida: Investigation, laboratory testing and engineering report. Cause of residence settlement was determined to be collapse-type sinkhole.
Wilson Residence, Holiday, Florida: Investigation, laboratory testing and engineering report. Cause of residence settlement was determined to be decaying organics (tree stumps).
